Schools
Realistic alternatives for Sept 2026: public school enrolment via TDSB / YRDSB / Peel / Halton, rolling-admission private schools, Islamic schools, or the wait-list path for Sept 2027 entry.
Public schools — rolling enrolment with proof of address
Newcomer families can enrol kids at the local public school as soon as they have a Toronto-area lease — typically within 1-2 weeks of arrival. No tuition, no application timing constraint, no waitlist subject to school capacity. Bring birth certificates, prior school records (translated), immunization records (translated), and proof of address (lease + utility bill).
- TDSB (Toronto)Top elementary: Hollywood PS (joint #1), Forest Hill JPS, Blythwood JPS, North Toronto. Top secondary: Earl Haig SS (top-3 TDSB), Lawrence Park CI, North Toronto CI, Bloor CI.
- YRDSB (York Region)Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill. Strong public network. Proof of address in YRDSB catchment required.
- Peel DSBMississauga, Brampton. Diverse; ratings vary by school.
- Halton DSBBurlington, Oakville. Strong school ratings.
Islamic schools — typically rolling/late-stage admission
Tuition tier materially lower than top private schools — typically $5,000-15,000/year. More flexible admission for July-August arrivals.
- Madinatul Uloom Academy (MUA)JK to Grade 12, three GTA campuses.
- Salaheddin Islamic SchoolScarborough; Elementary + Secondary; established 1998.
- Olive Grove School (MAC Schools)Full-time Islamic school under MAC (Muslim Association of Canada) network.

Friday prayer accessibility varies materially by hospital corridor. The downtown corridor (UHN / Mount Sinai / SickKids / St. Michael's) is closest to the Toronto Islamic Centre. Sunnybrook fellows trade off via Yonge subway. Mississauga and Markham have the deepest local options.

Gulf community
The Toronto-side Gulf physician network is materially smaller than Vancouver's. The Saudi Cultural Bureau (one of several sponsoring agencies serving this cohort) has its main office in Ottawa, not Toronto. Community anchoring runs through ACCT (since 1973), the TAG meetup, and Markham Community Connect for family programming.
- Saudi Cultural Bureau (SACB)2101 Thurston Dr, Ottawa K1G 6C9. Established May 1978. Serves SACB-sponsored students nationally including Toronto. Toll-free 1-877-446-8212.
